Our Guest Speaker, My Dad
On March 15, 2017, my dad (Johnathan Scott) came to talk to my class about his job and how an airplane flies. He talked about airfoil, lift, drag, thrust and velocity. Lift, thrust, and drag work together to keep the airplane in the air. Drag works to help the airplane descend. stalling is when there are gaps in the air around the wing and the plane slows. My dad works for a company called Aerovironment (A.V.) The company works with U.A.V. and U.A.S. A.V. has different fields, they are commercial, agriculture, military, and a few more. He talked about what all of those fields do, and what he has done in those fields. He is either training people to use the systems, or he is working with the systems. He talked about the places he has traveled including Afghanistan, Thailand, Australia, Turkey, Alaska, and a few others. In commercial they work with N.A.S.A., in agriculture they work with oil and farmers, and in military they train them how to use the systems. We really enjoyed his presentation and learned a lot from it!
